Disney has acquired The Valet from Lionsgate, which will debut on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ worldwide in Summer 2022.
What’s Happening:
- Lionsgate’s English-language remake of The Valet, a hit French film, has been picked up by The Walt Disney Company for global distribution on streaming platforms.
- The film will debut in the United States on Hulu and worldwide on Disney+ in the general entertainment section of the streaming service, branded Star in most territories.
- The upcoming adaptation stars Eugenio Derbez and Samara Weaving and is directed by Richard Wong.
- Screenwriters Rob Greenberg & Bob Fisher also wrote Eugenio Derbez’s hit film Overboard.
- Eugenio Derbez is producing the film along with Ben Odell through their 3Pas Studios banner.
The Valet Plot:
- “In the film, Weaving plays Olivia, a movie star who enlists Antonio (Derbez) – a parking valet – to pose as her lover to cover for a relationship with a married man (Greenfield). As a valet, the hard-working Antonio usually flies under the radar but his ruse with Olivia thrusts him into the spotlight and brings him to see himself more clearly than ever before.”
