We’ve made it to the final day of Comic-Con@Home 2021 and Marvel’s presence continued with the “In Conversation with Alex Ross: The Alex Ross Marvel Comics Mural and Poster Book” panel.
- Renowned comic artist Alex Ross discussed his new book, The Alex Ross Marvel Comics Poster Book, in this panel.
- In a conversation with his business partner Sal Abbinanti, Ross talked about creating the epic mural that was commissioned for the New York City offices of Marvel Comics.
- The images from that mural are now the subject of the new book, which features all 35 full-figure portraits, commentary by Ross, and a four-page pull-out poster of the complete Marvel mural.
- Ross discussed the use of lighting in this mural as well as characters that didn’t make the cut who he would have like to include. Specifically, Ross mentioned wanting to include the classic look for Nick Fury in the art.
- Abbinanti said he would have liked to see Man-Thing included in the mural, which drew a laugh from Ross.
- The pair highlighted some of their favorite characters included in the mural, like Silver Surfer, Hawkeye, the Punisher and others.
- Ross specifically mentioned that he was happy to include the classic X-Men like Ice Man and Beast and go beyond just the newer favorites like Cyclops and Jean Grey.
- The Alex Ross Marvel Comics Poster Book is available now for $24.99.
