Walt Disney World has unveiled the medals for runDisney Marathon Weekend events in 2022, all of which tie into the resort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
What’s Happening:
- In-person runDisney events resume this November and the Walt Disney World Resort just revealed the medals for the 2022 Marathon Weekend races and challenges.
- Highlights of runDisney events include entertainment throughout the course and keepsake finisher medals.
- The 2022 line of medals is themed to the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Walt Disney World, featuring classic characters from Walt Disney’s era.
- Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto are each wearing the celebration’s signature “EARidescent” colors.
- The medals were first shared by the Disney Parks Blog along with the video below, which also features an interview with Show Director Matthew Hamel.
- There are six medals in total, one for each scheduled event, each of which is double-sided.
2022 runDisney Walt Disney World Medals:
- Walt Disney World 5K (January 6th): Pluto with his own spinning medal.
- Walt Disney World 10K (January 7th): Oswald the Lucky Rabbit with a sliding Oswald figure.
- Walt Disney World Half Marathon (January 8th): Donald and Daisy Duck on either side of a spinning coin hinged at the top and bottom of the medal.
- Walt Disney World Marathon (January 9th): Mickey and Minnie Mouse on either side of a spinning coin hinged at the top and bottom of the medal.
- Dopey Challenge (January 6-9th): Complete all 4 marathon races on time to add this bonus medal featuring Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs celebrating with his other medals.
- Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge (January 8th-9th): Complete the full and half marathons to get this bonus medal, featuring a spinning Goofy on the front side.
