Production on the remaining seasons of the critically acclaimed and award winning FX series, Atlanta, is set to resume in just a few weeks, according to Deadline.
What’s Happening:
- Reportedly, the cast and crew of FX’s Atlanta will be heading to Europe to shoot seasons 3 and 4 of the series on March 23rd, with actual production beginning in early April.
- Series creator and star Donald Glover reportedly told FX Chief John Landgraf that the quarantine was an “unexpected boon” allowing him and his writing team to complete the next two seasons of the series.
- Season 3 was originally set to debut earlier this year, with season 4 later in the fall but due to the global pandemic, that obviously changed.
- It is believed that the production of Atlanta will begin in London before continuing on to Amsterdam and then Paris.
- Since it began, Atlanta has won numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmys, including two for Donald Glover for both Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and for Directing. The first season also won two Golden Globes, for Best Comedy TV Series and Best Comedy TV Actor going again to Donald Glover.
What They’re Saying:
- FX President John Landgraf: “One of them shoots primarily in Europe and one primarily in Atlanta. It is the intent to shoot them all at one time, back to back. However, the availability has been pushed back because of COVID. That had to do with our sense of when we could return to work safely and then we had to co-ordinate all of the cast for what is shooting two seasons at once. Heartbreakingly for me, it has been pushed back a little bit.”
