The Saturn Awards are designed to honor the best films and television series in science fiction, fantasy and horror and the 45th awards had Disney fingerprints all over them. Avengers: Endgame in particular was all over this year’s awards, earning 14 nominations.
- Out of the 14 nomination it earned, Endgame won six awards, including:
- Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture
- Best Actor – Robert Downey Jr.
- Best Production Design
- Best Editing
- Best Make-up
- Best Special Effects
- The film might as well have won a seventh awards as well, as Josh Brolin won for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Thanos but won it for Avengers: Infinity War.
- The remaining nominations for Endgame included:
- Best Actor – Chris Evans
- Best Supporting Actor – Jeremy Renner
- Best Supporting Actress – Karen Gillan and Scarlett Johansson
- Best Director
- Best Writing
- Best Music
- Best Costume Design
- Other awards won by Disney, Fox, Marvel, or Pixar films include:
- Best Fantasy Film – Toy Story 4
- Best Thriller Film – Bad Times at the El Royale
- Best Music – Mary Poppins Returns
- Best Costume Design – Aladdin
- Other notable film awards that didn’t necessarily go to Disney include:
- Best Animated Film – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
- Best Performance by a Younger Actor – Tom Holland for Spider-Man: Far From Home
- Best Supporting Actress – Zendaya for Spider-Man: Far From Home
- On the television side, Disney wasn’t exactly as dominant but it did still manage to pick up one win for Best Animated Series on Television with Star Wars Resistance.
- They picked up one more when it comes to streaming as Marvel’s Daredevil won Best Streaming Superhero Series.
- Some other notable nominations on the television side included Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger for Best Superhero Series, Fox’s The Orville for Best Science-Fiction Series and a clean sweep of the Best Animated Series nominations with Fox’s The Simpsons and Family Guy, FX’s Archer and Disney Channel’s DuckTales.
