FX Networks have secured the off-network rights to Fox’s adult animated comedy, Family Guy. The series will debut on both FXX and ABC-owned sister network, Freeform next week.
What’s happening:
- A new report on Deadline says that FX Networks have landed off-network rights to the popular Fox animated show Family Guy.
- Starting next week, the series will air on the FXX network joining Fox’s unprecedented long running series, The Simpsons.
- Interestingly, FX will also be sharing Family Guy with Disney sister network, Freeform which Deadline says “will get a small portion of the usage.”
- Family Guy will debut on FXX on April 16 with the series airing a total of five hours, three times a week.
- Freeform will begin showing the series on April 17, airing a one hour block weekly on Wednesdays.
- Additionally, FX Networks have secured the rights to Bob’s Burgers and will being airing that series later this year starting with the show’s current 9th season.
- In the meantime, older season of both Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy remain at Turner’s Adult Swim and TBS networks.
- The entire Bob’s Burgers library will reportedly be controlled by FX in the coming years.
- Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burgers are all produced by 20th Century Fox TV and have already been renewed for new seasons on Fox.
- Streaming rights to Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are owned by Hulu.
