Disney Parks Blog has revealed a first look at the design concept for Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish.
What’s Happening:
- Thanks to Disney Parks Blog, we have been given a first look at the design concept for the new ship coming to Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wish.
- The design will center around “Enchantment,” promising to give the Disney Wish a new look, unlike anything we have seen before.
- The codename for the Disney Wish was enchantment, with the idea being that Disney Cruise Line needed to have its castle of the seas, similar to the castles we see at the theme parks.
- In the video above, you’ll hear from Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Director Claire Weiss and WDI Portfolio Creative Executive Laura Cabo on designing the new ship.
More on the Disney Wish:
- The Disney Wish will reflect a wide range of Disney storytelling including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.
- Previously announced, the bow of the ship will feature Captain Minnie Mouse and the stern will feature Rapunzel appearing to decorate the exterior with her friend Pascal.
- The deck edge will feature a curvature on both sides to create a sense of movement and magic.
- Gothic, Baroque, and French Rococo influences will be seen in the castle-inspired atrium with Cinderella standing at the base of the grand staircase.
- Up above, the chandelier is shaped after the Fairy Godmother’s spiral of magic she places around Cinderella in the film.
- Need to know more about the newest ship? Disney Cruise Line will unveil new details in a special virtual presentation, Once Upon a Disney Wish on Thursday, April 29 at 11:00 am ET.
More Magic on the Horizon:
- The Disney Wish is the first of three new Disney Cruise Line ships to be built through 2025. All three ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The Disney Wish is expected to start sailing in Summer 2022.
