Bullseye! Marvel’s Hawkeye Series for Disney+ Finds Its Writer

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new Disney+ series based around Marvel’s Hawkeye has found it’s writer to pen the series in Jonathan Igla, who is mostly known for his earlier work on AMC’s Mad Men

What’s Happening:

  • Jonathan Igla, who earlier worked on AMC’s Mad Men, will write and serve as executive producer on the new Marvel series for Disney+
  • Jeremy Renner is set to reprise his role as Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye, the non-superpowered superhero as he teaches another hero, Kate Bishop (who also prefers the bow and arrow) how to be a hero with no super powers.
  • The series has a tentative debut of fall 2021 as part of Marvel’s Phase Four, which also includes the debut of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki, all of which are scheduled to premiere on Disney+
  • The hiring of Johnathan Igla completes most of the key creative staffing of the Phase Four shows:
    • Malcolm Spellman (Empire) will be writing Winter Soldier, with Kari Scogland (The Handmaid’s Tale) directing
    • Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) set for the showrunner of WandaVision
    • Loki has Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty) serving as writer and executive producer
  • Aside from Mad Men, Johnathan Igla was also a writer and co-producer on Fox’s sports drama, Pitch, as well as the writer-supervising producer on Facebook’s drama starring Elizabeth Olsen, Sorry For Your Loss.
  • Earlier this summer at D23 Expo 2019, Marvel chief Kevin Feige announced that shows featuring She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight were also being developed for Disney+
