Tonight (or tomorrow morning in Tokyo), the D23 Expo Japan’s Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation brought all kinds of news for parks around the round. Here are some of the highlights:
Disneyland Resort Paris
A newly reimagined Marvel-themed attraction is coming to Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris, where riders will team up with Iron Man and their favorite Avengers on a high-speed, hyper-kinetic adventure to another dimension.
As was announced last week, more Disney owned characters will be coming to Disneyland Resort Paris. The first announcement is that they are reimagining Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as a high-speed, hyper-kinetic adventure where guests can team up with Iron Man and the Avengers. As was announced at the D23 Expo in Anaheim Disney’s Hotel New York will be reimagined with the addition of “The Art of Marvel” and will reopen in 2020.
Hong Kong Disneyland
New images and details of the second Marvel attraction coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. In the attraction replacing Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters you’ll be able to team up with Ant-Man and The Wasp to fight Arnim Zola and his army of Hydra swarm bots.
Walt Disney World
The Guardians of the Galaxy attraction coming to Epcot has been shrouded in mystery, but it was revealed that the new attraction will feature a brand-new innovative ride system— and will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world.
Meanwhile, we also got a new look inside the immersive Star Wars hotel that will be a connected experience to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Disney also released new art for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which was originally announced at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The attraction opens in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Lastly, the new, family-friendly show featuring Russell and Dug from Up that replaced Flights of Wonder will debut on April 22.
Disneyland Resort
A new Incredibles float is joining the Paint the Night parade this June (but you can see the popular parade in Disney California Adventure when Pixar Fest launches on April 13).
Adventures by Disney
Finally, the D23 Expo Japan seems like the perfect place to announce that Adventures by Disney will take guests to Japan in 2019. Stay tuned for bookings opening this spring.
