The “World Famous” Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World continues to be enhanced while the attraction remains open, giving Disney fans a chance to see continuous updates from Walt Disney Imagineering. Today, we offer a look at some of the most recent updates Guests can see aboard their “Congo Connie” or what have you.
New theming has been added to this beach, where canoes are now available for rent. It’s no longer a welcoming hut full of dancing “pygmy people.” Skulls on stakes have also been removed from this scene and all others.
It looks like the gorillas have vacated the explorer’s camp. Now who’s going to get that Jeep to “turn over”?
The safari crew was changed last month, as previously shared on Instagram by the official Walt Disney Imagineering account. Folded into a new storyline, the explorer on the bottom of the pole closest to the rhino is Felix Pechman XIII, a new skipper with the Jungle Navigation Company who had some bad luck on his first safari with VIPs in tow. The top of the pole also has a new bird's nest.
Could this be what happened to Felix’s boat? A new sunken boat is now on display in the hippo pool, with floating luggage sailing away.
Look out for that hippo!
Headhunters are gone throughout the attraction, with tarped off areas covering up the bases they used to stand on.
Lastly, work continues on Trader Sam’s Gift Shop, which is mostly covered up at this point. When completed, the scene will reveal the famous trader’s shop, with the proprietor having stepped away for a moment as monkeys and a baby elephant shop around. That’s it for this adventure. “Please watch your step on your way out and if you don’t watch your step, watch your language.”
