As awards season starts to heat up, this morning the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for its annual ceremony celebrating the best performances in film and television. Naturally, Disney earned several nominations for their projects as did Fox and Hulu properties.
- First up, Disney managed to earn nominations for acting performances in Mary Poppins Returns and Black Panther, as well as stunt performance nominations for all three of this year’s Marvel Cinematic Universe films (Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp).
- Additionally, actors in 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight films earned boatloads of nominations for movies like Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?.
- Turning to television, actors on FX’s American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Atlanta, and The Americans all earned nominations.
- Finally, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale proved a critical darling once again, earning both solo and ensemble nominations.
