Andres Velez has been cast as a lead in the upcoming drama pilot for ABC, Promised Land, according to Deadline.
What’s Happening:
- Andres Velez (Coyote Lake) has been cast to star in a drama pilot ordered by ABC, Promised Land. He will star alongside Christina Ochoa and Mariel Molino in the new drama about two Latinx families in California’s Sonoma Valley.
- Velez will reportedly play Carlos Rincon, a young immigrant who has come to the Heritage Vineyard in search of a better life. On his way he meets Juana Sánchez, a young woman who dreams of becoming a teacher. Arriving in the Sonoma Valley, Carlos and Juana will tie their fortunes together in pursuit of their own American dreams. Molino is slated to play Camila Sandoval, the youngest daughter of the Sandoval family and Ochoa will reportedly play her sister, Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter.
- Promised Land, a drama from Matt Lopez, and previously known as American Heritage, is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley. Lopez is attached to write, as well as executive produce alongside Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group, with ABC Signature serving as the studio behind the production. The series expands Lopez’s long standing relationship with Disney where he has been considered as a go-to writer with many previous productions under his belt.
- Velez can currently be seen in the film, Coyote Lake, now streaming on HBO services, and recently finished filming a performance in the upcoming Netflix film, Night Teeth, and appeared in the independent feature Coast.
