New details regarding Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have been revealed thanks to a backstage tour taken by Barron’s.
- The article from Barron’s explains that the entrances to the new land will be narrowed and then rapidly expand to give visitors a very specific, cinematic view as they enter.
- The article goes on to share details on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, explaining that Hondo has cut a deal with Chewbacca to borrow the Falcon and wants you to pilot it for his mission.
- Guests will roam the familiar halls of the ship and see iconic scenery, including the Dejarik board, before making their way to the cockpit where they will pilot the ship in groups of six.
- As Disney has previously announced, an interactive storytelling element will include characters in the land reacting to your performance as pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Barron’s explains that guests will have an option to opt out of this experience.
- In Rise of the Resistance, guests will begin in the Resistance base on Batuu before being captured by the First Order and having to make their escape on a trackless troop transport.
- On this attraction, guests will encounter stormtroopers, Kylo Ren and the massive AT-AT walkers which, according to Barron’s, “do not disappoint.”
- Oga’s Cantina will reportedly offer limited seating, with the plan being for guests to stand so as to maximize capacity and accessibility.
- The menu is still being decided, though Barron’s mentions that hey heard the name “Fuzzy Tauntaun” as a potential drink option.
- The famed Blue Milk will reportedly be a non-dairy drink that will be sold by a bantah farmer, though it is unclear whether it will be available in Oga’s Cantina or the outdoor marketplace or both.
- One of the shops will allow guests to customize and purchase their own droid through an interactive experience.
- Droids belonging to people of the same group might recognize each other and droids designed to be afraid of stormtrooper might signal their fear when one is close.
- Prices have not yet been set for these droids, but it is also expected that full-sized R2 units will be available for purchase, presumably costing thousands of dollars.
- Another shop will be presided over by Dok-Ondar, likely an animatronic set apart in a booth. Cast members will interact with him to learn what he would be willing to sell certain items for.
- The outdoor marketplace will feature a pod-racing engine being used to roast meat.
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Summer 2019 at Disneyland and Fall 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.
