Marvel’s Lorraine Cink sat down to chat with Eric Leven, VFX supervisor of Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, about some of the effects used for this action-packed series on Disney+.
- Leven broke down some of the technical details of the opening action sequence from the show’s first episode.
- He explained that some of the effects were done practically, including having the abducted pilot actually strapped to a stuntperson in a wing suit.
- “Not only are we working with actual folks in wing suits, but Captain Vassant is strapped to one of the wing suit pilots,” Leven said, much to Cink’s surprise. “You know in the story, yeah, he’s going to strap him and he’s going to jump out. And I was talking with the stunt coordinator and he said ‘oh yeah, yeah, we can do that.’”
- Leven also talks a bit about having to do some VFX work on Sam’s cowl in his new Captain America suit, a detail shared in the recently released Assembled: The Making of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+.
