ABC Cancels Roseanne Due to Star’s Tweet

President Trump is referring to an inaccurate report by ABC News’ Brian Ross related to Michael Flynn’s testimony in the Russia investigation. Ross was suspended and was removed from the investigative unit upon his return.

Iger and Trump have a history. Bob Iger was originally on a the president’s Policy Forum but eventually dropped out.

UPDATE: Bob Iger weighed in on Twitter regarding the show’s cancellation saying, “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”

ABC has cancelled their revival of Roseanne due to a tweet from the show’s star. The series had been set for a second revived season this fall. In a statement Channing Dungey said, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

This morning, Roseanne tweeted that former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett was the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes. She later took to Twitter to say she was leaving the service, but then returned with an apology

Wanda Sykes, a consulting producer on the series, shared that she would not be returning to the series.

Roseanne’s on-screen daughter and show producer Sara Gilbert also tweeted a statement:

The show had been a bright spot on the ABC schedule as the revival was an instant ratings success. It is unknown what will replace the series. It was the number 1 show on Tuesdays and the highest rated entertainment series of last season.
