After 20 years, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and thousands of guests said goodbye to a Disney Holiday tradition last night as the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights took its final bow. This was actually part of a short encore for the in-park display which was originally scheduled to close on January 3rd. However, it is rumored that the poor weather on that day led Disney to extend the run and give it a proper send-off.
As the evening went on, many tears and hugs were seen between Cast and guests alike as they walked along, looking at the lights one last time. One of the highlights of every visit was locating the “black cat” that was moved each week to encourage exploring amongst return guests. With the last night upon us, the cat was put where every guest would be able to find it: right above the bathroom (where most in attendance had to visit over the course of the final five hours). With only a few minutes before 10 p.m. curfew, the last dance for the lights started and, with eyes full of tears, the fine folks in Disney Entertainment added a fitting end to this beautiful tradition.
