Disney’s Hollywood Studios debuted their new nighttime spectacular “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” as the park tries to fill the holiday void left by the departure of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The show, which is hosted by the elves from ABC and Disney Animation’s Prep & Landing features fireworks, projections, laser, snow, and of course… twinkling lights.
Wayne and Lanny search the realms of Disney to find Santa so that holiday cheer can be spread across the world. Holiday moments from Disney films including Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Beauty and the Beast, Pluto’s Christmas Tree, Bambi, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and of course a grand finale.
The show builds open the “more than just pyro” concept that began with the most recent Star Wars show. The laser effects are quite effective, and the snow blankets Hollywood Blvd. While no knowledge of Prep & Landing is required, it does enhance the experience. Fans of the holiday special will see many of their favorite friends.
Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! will run from November 14 to December 31 replacing the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular for the holiday season.
Guests who want to plus their experience can partake in the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Holiday Party. The event begins at the courtyard of The Great Movie Ride. Unlike previous experiences, this event does not include ice cream novelties such as the Mickey Premium Bar. Instead, they offer non-dessert offerings such as meatballs and spinach & artichoke dip as well as custom desserts like cupcakes, cookies, and more. There is also a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including some specially themed offerings.
Santa Goofy is also on hand to meet and greet guests before it is time to move to the viewing location. As guests depart the courtyard they are handed a gingerbread Mickey cookie. Once guests arrive at the location, near Min & Bill’s Dockside Dinner, bottled water keeps everyone hydrated as they wait for the show.
Each guest also gets special glasses that transform fireworks into glowing reindeer. While this particular show features more than pyro, I can’t wait to use the glasses on something that focuses on firepower such as Wishes.
The Holiday Party runs each night, with the exception of Wednesday, November 16. Through December 17, 2016, tickets can be purchased for $69 per adult or $39 for children ages 3 to 9 (tax and gratuity included). Then, as the holidays draw closer from December 18 through December 31, 2016, tickets can be purchased for $79 per adult or $45 for children ages 3 to 9 (tax and gratuity included).
