Next stop was a seminar being held by Clara Scoggins. Her collection is over 1 million pieces and she had a featured tree in the Gallery of Trees of nothing but sterling ornaments. She spoke on how the ornaments tell a story of the decorator's life, as well as those who create themed trees (mine is mainly Disney this year, like that was a surprise). We saw one of the first ornaments ever made, a simple glass ball, and the progression through the years to the present, high tech ornaments that you plug into you string of lights.
Saturday night's Candlelight Procession
The evening was quickly approaching as I made my way to the Fantasyland Theatre for my first experience of the Candlelight Procession and then to the Collectibles Festival dinner at the Festival of Fools arena - another great experience created by Disneyland entertainment and food. During dinner Cynthia Harriss, the president of Disneyland, made her way around the arena talking with the attendees and posing for photos. Mickey and Minnie, dressed in Renaissance outfits, were also bounding around. The dinner concluded with a special guest Santa Claus, and with the help of everyone in attendance - and a lot of wishing - it snowed in the Festival arena. Afterwards we made our way to the Small World Mall for reserved viewing of the Christmas Fantasy Parade. I parted ways with the group at that point and headed to Coke Corner to meet up with friends.
